In 2011, I was in a Semi-Finalist team for the Walt Disney Imagineering’s ImagiNations Design Competition. As a storyteller and a alumni of the Walt Disney World College Program, I wanted to tackle the challenge of theme park design. I was the team leader, writer, and conceptualized the idea. My partner did the artwork and helped me expand all the concepts. The project we submitted was titled, “Villains’ Hideout.” This was to be an expansion to the Magic Kingdom Park which would be completely based on the Disney Villains, juxtaposed with our theme “Even villains have dreams.” We even went as far as starting to create an interactive app for guest’s phones so they could have even more fun as they joined the villains in their mischief. This first image was an integral monument for the land we created and tells the story of how the Villains’ Hideout came to be. Some of the information not included in the picture, we wanted the fountain to put on a water show all throughout park hours, and at night have it glow green.
The project was conceived by the St. Mary’s University Team and created for the 2011 Walt Disney Imagineering’s ImagiNations Design Competition. This project is the sole property of Walt Disney Imagineering and all rights to use these ideas are property of Walt Disney Imagineering. The competition is a way for students to showcase their talents and for Disney to identify new talent.
